COTC offers multiple pathways to career success.
Choose from 50+ degree and certificate options that fit your
goals and your timeline.
Bachelor’s Degree
A bachelor’s degree requires completion of at least 120
credit hours.
- Bachelor of Applied Science: Prepares students for employment
or advancement in a specific career with more in-depth knowledge
and practical application of skills.
Associate Degree
An associate degree requires completion of at least 60
semester credit hours (two years of full-time enrollment). COTC
offers three types of associate degrees:

Associate of Arts and Associate of
Science: Complete the first two years of a
bachelor’s degree and transfer to any public four-year
university in Ohio.

Associate of Applied Business and
Associate of Applied Science: Prepare
students for immediate employment after graduation with
a specific career focus, and in many cases, can also
transfer to a four-year university.

Associate of Technical Studies: A
customized degree designed by the student with guidance and
approval by COTC.
Some associate degrees also allow students to choose a major.
A major is an area of specialization within an
associate degree.
Certificate
COTC also offers two certificate options for students, which can
be completed in as little as one semester or up to one year. Most
credit hours earned for a certificate also apply toward the
completion of an associate degree at COTC.

Short-Term Certificate: An award for the
completion of less than 30 semester credit hours for a specific
career.

One-Year Certificate: An award for the
completion of 30 semester credit hours or more for a specific
career.
Workforce Training
Workforce training programs provide job skills training and
preparation for industry certifications, if applicable, but do
not grant college credit. Upon completion, students are
ready for immediate employment in a specific career.
