COTC offers multiple pathways to career success.

Choose from 50+ degree and certificate options that fit your goals and your timeline.

Bachelor’s Degree

A bachelor’s degree requires completion of at least 120 credit hours. 

  • Bachelor of Applied Science: Prepares students for employment or advancement in a specific career with more in-depth knowledge and practical application of skills. 

Associate Degree

An associate degree requires completion of at least 60 semester credit hours (two years of full-time enrollment). COTC offers three types of associate degrees:

  • Associate of Arts and Associate of Science: Complete the first two years of a bachelor’s degree and transfer to any public four-year university in Ohio.
  • Associate of Applied Business and Associate of Applied Science: Prepare students for immediate employment after graduation with a specific career focus, and in many cases, can also transfer to a four-year university.
  • Associate of Technical Studies: A customized degree designed by the student with guidance and approval by COTC. 

Some associate degrees also allow students to choose a major. A major is an area of specialization within an associate degree.

Certificate

COTC also offers two certificate options for students, which can be completed in as little as one semester or up to one year. Most credit hours earned for a certificate also apply toward the completion of an associate degree at COTC.

  • Short-Term Certificate: An award for the completion of less than 30 semester credit hours for a specific career. 
  • One-Year Certificate: An award for the completion of 30 semester credit hours or more for a specific career.

Workforce Training

Workforce training programs provide job skills training and preparation for industry certifications, if applicable, but do not grant college credit. Upon completion, students are ready for immediate employment in a specific career.

Accounting Technology
Associate of Applied Business
The accounting technology program curriculum includes coursework on auditing, taxation, fraud examination, forensic accounting, finance and cost management.

Addiction Studies
Short-Term Certificate
The addiction studies certificate program prepares individuals to work in an entry-level position in many community health programs. Coursework includes training in how to assist individuals and families with a variety of issues arising from addiction problems.

Transfer Degree
The Associate of Arts is designed to help students with an interest in the arts meet the requirements of the first two years of a four-year bachelor’s degree.

The Associate of Arts with a concentration in economics is designed to give students with an interest in economics an affordable and accessible start to their first two years of a four-year degree.

Transfer Degree
The Associate of Arts with a concentration in education is designed for students wanting to transfer to a bachelor’s program and to work in K-12 education. The credit hours students complete at COTC easily transfer to Ohio public universities for bachelor’s degree completion.

The Associate of Arts with a concentration in English is designed to give students with an interest in subjects like literature, writing and journalism an affordable and accessible start to their first two years of a four-year degree.

The Associate of Arts with a concentration in Philosophy is designed to give students with an interest in subjects like logic, critical thinking and ethics an affordable and accessible start to their first two years of a four-year degree.

Transfer Degree
This transfer degree is for students who want to complete the first two years of a bachelor’s degree and to transfer seamlessly to any public college or university in the state of Ohio to pursue a bachelor’s degree in social work.

Basic Healthcare Skills
Short-Term Certificate

This course prepares basic healthcare workers with the skills required by the Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) prior to gaining eligibility to become a certified nursing assistant (CNA).

Behavioral and mental health technicians and aides care for people who have mental illness and developmental disabilities. After completing the certificate, you will be able to define and demonstrate an understanding of core social science concepts through the study of psychology.

Bookkeepers record financial transactions such as purchases, sales and payments for a person or business/organization.

The customer relations certificate examines problem-solving and caring for customers’ needs. Students will enhance their skillsets with an emphasis on communication, active listening, empathy, adaptability and time management.

Under the supervision of physicians and/or nurses, electrocardiograph technicians operate equipment that records and measures heart activity (EKG/ECG diagnostic examinations) and report results to the treatment team.

Students completing the certificate will be eligible to apply to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician exam to become a certified EMT.

One-Year Certificate

Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) provide basic medical care. They work under the direction of registered nurses (RNs) and doctors. LPNs are responsible for administering basic nursing care and monitoring a patient’s health.

Radiologic technologists perform diagnostic imaging procedures such as x-ray, MRI and CT.
